    What the check tests

    Seven disciplines and a look at the design

    We measure what guests, Google and AI assistants see of your homepage, and calculate with exactly the code we rate the MAD MIRROR Awards editions with.

    • Google (SEO)

      May Google index the page? Plus title, description, main heading, sitemap, canonical, alt texts and real 404 pages.

    • AI visibility (GEO)

      May ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini read the site, do they find text without JavaScript, and do they learn what the business is, where and when it's open?

    • Mobile speed

      Lighthouse in mobile emulation: largest element load time, layout shifts, responsiveness, server, page weight, image formats, lazy loading.

    • Booking and contact

      Reservation system, call to book, WhatsApp, tap-to-call phone, email or form, Google Maps: the path from looking to booking.

    • Tech and trust

      Legal notice, privacy policy, working links, a secure connection, current content, accessibility and reviews: whether guests can trust the site.

    • Languages

      How many languages the site speaks, whether they're linked with hreflang and whether there's an English version.

    • Video and social

      Video on the homepage, a picture for shared links and linked channels: Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, Facebook.

    • Design and first impression

      MAD AI looks at the first screen on a phone: offer, main action, pictures, legibility. A read, kept apart from the score.

    The same rules as for the test winners

    The MAD MIRROR Awards rate how well hotels, beach clubs, restaurants and other businesses are found, understood and booked online: on Google, in AI assistants like ChatGPT and on a phone. Ratings go from one to three Mirrors and rest on an open measurement that is the same for everyone.
